About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin is an Australian violist, educator, and prolific composer with deep roots in string music. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and former concertmaster of the Sydney Youth Orchestra, she spent over 25 years as Principal Viola with the Queensland Pops Orchestra while building a distinguished teaching career at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993. Her experience as an adjudicator at major Australian competitions and presenter at both Australian and American national string conferences has shaped her understanding of what student ensembles need to grow.

Fin has composed over 100 works for string orchestra, all published by Alfred Music and performed worldwide. She served the Australian Strings Association in leadership roles for more than 25 years, including terms as State and National President, and received the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia. Currently the State Advisor for Strings and a regular conductor of State and National Honours Ensembles Programs in Brisbane, she remains deeply invested in string education at all levels.
