About the Composer: Brian Balmages

Brian Balmages composes across orchestral, band, and chamber genres with equal fluency, earning recognition from professional orchestras and school ensembles alike. His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Sydney Opera House, and the Toronto Centre for the Arts. He received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association and won the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest for Love and Light.

As a conductor, Balmages maintains active guest conducting relationships with all-state ensembles, university groups, and professional orchestras worldwide. He has appeared at major conferences including the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and the American School Band Directors Association National Conference. Currently serving as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic, he holds elected membership in the American Bandmasters Association.
