About the Composer: Loreta Fin

Loreta Fin began her musical training at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and established herself as a first violinist with the Sydney Youth Orchestra before building a distinguished career in chamber and orchestral performance. For over 25 years, she has served as Principal Viola player with the Queensland Pops Orchestra while directing the string program at Somerville House School in Brisbane since 1993.

Fin's contributions to music education extend far beyond the rehearsal room. She has presented at national conferences in Australia and the United States, adjudicated major competitions across Australia, and served on leadership committees for the Australian Strings Association, including terms as both State and National President. Her published catalog includes over 100 string orchestra works distributed worldwide by Alfred Music. Recognized for her impact on string teaching and performance, Fin received the Queensland State Award for Services to AUSTA in 2009 and the National Award for Services to Music and String Teaching in Australia. She currently serves as State Advisor for Strings and regularly conducts state and national honours ensembles programs.
