About the Composer: Jack Wilds

Jack Wilds composes across an unusually wide age and genre spectrum, from children's ensembles to professional orchestras. His output spans visual art, literature, and spiritual texts as compositional catalysts, and his wind band works appear on festival required lists and adjudication circuits across North America and internationally. He has premiered work at major venues including the International Trombone Festival, the Midwest Clinic, and the Wyoming Festival, with performances by the Attacca Quartet, members of the New York Philharmonic and Atlanta Symphony, and university new music ensembles.

A former public school band director, Wilds has published over 40 works for developing musicians in wind and choral settings. He lectures in composition, theory, ear training, and music technology at Texas State University, maintains a 13-year role as Co-Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in San Marcos, and regularly clinics and adjudicates at schools nationwide. His composition study included work with Michael Ippolito, Chris Trapani, and Donald Grantham.
