About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo

Richard L. Saucedo shaped the Indiana band program landscape over three decades as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Chairman at Carmel High School. His ensembles consistently earned state, regional, and national recognition across concert, jazz, and marching categories. Carmel's Wind Symphony I reached the Music for All National Concert Band Festival three times and secured the Indiana State Championship in 2013, while the Marching Greyhounds finished in the national top ten for 17 consecutive years, capturing BOA National titles in 2005 and 2012.

Beyond his tenure at Carmel, Saucedo has built a distinguished career as an arranger and composer for marching bands, concert bands, choral ensembles, and orchestras. He was named Indiana Bandmaster of the Year in 1999 and Outstanding Music Educator in 2010, later earning induction into the Music for All Hall of Fame in 2015 and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame in 2022. His work with the Blue Devils and previously with the Cavaliers contributed to five DCI world championships, and he continues to serve as a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America.
