About the Artist: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo shaped Indiana's band program landscape during his 31 years directing the Carmel High School bands. His ensembles consistently achieved top honors at state and national competitions, with the Wind Symphony I appearing three times at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival and the Marching Greyhounds claiming 17 consecutive top-ten finishes at the BOA Grand Nationals, including national titles in 2005 and 2012. He was named Indiana's Bandmaster of the Year in 1998-99 and received the Outstanding Music Educator award in 2010.
Since retiring in 2013, Saucedo has remained deeply embedded in the marching arts and concert music worlds. He served as Brass Arranger for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps during five DCI world championship seasons and currently coordinates music ensembles for the Blue Devils. His work as a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Chief Judge Team Leader for Bands of America reflects his ongoing commitment to developing the next generation. Saucedo has been inducted into both the Music for All Hall of Fame (2015) and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame (2022), and he continues to compose and arrange across marching band, concert band, choral, and orchestral settings.
