Shayla L. Blake

Shayla L. Blake holds degrees in piano performance from Stetson University and Texas Tech University, where she studied with Geoffrey Gilbert (flute) and William Westney (piano). Her training was rigorous: she competed in Texas Tech's Undergraduate and Graduate Concerto Competitions, earning 1st Runner-up honors, and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the program.

Today, Blake teaches piano, flute, songwriting, and choral arranging at Louisiana Tech University's School of Music, where she also serves as collaborative pianist. Her compositions and arrangements appear with major publishers including Hal Leonard, Shawnee Press, Lorenz, and Choristers Guild, with performances spanning from TMEA festivals to the Vatican. Beyond her publishing work, Blake directs the North Louisiana Parkinson's Chorale in collaboration with Louisiana Tech's School of Nursing, bringing therapeutic music to those managing the condition. She and her husband perform regularly as a vocal duo and have produced five custom recordings of original music.
