About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has built a reputation across three decades as a composer and educator who writes music young bands actually want to play. His works are performed internationally, and his influence extends beyond the page through his pedagogical collaborations on industry-standard methods like Measures of Success and Warm-ups and Beyond. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate drew over 5,000 spectators to Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Loest's music has appeared on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America, and his publishing history spans major houses including C.L. Barnhouse, FJH Music Company, and MakeMusic Publications. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to focus on high-quality band compositions and arrangements. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and welcomes commissions through his website.
