About the Composer: Don Besig

Don Besig

Don Besig spent 31 years directing music in western New York's public schools, where his concert choirs and show choirs consistently earned recognition at clinics, contests, and community performances. His experience spans every educational level, from elementary through high school, and he now serves as director of music at Perinton Presbyterian Church in Fairport, New York.

Identifying a genuine need for accessible choral writing, Besig began composing directly for the singers he worked with. His catalog now includes over 350 original compositions and arrangements published by major school and church music houses. More than 15 million copies of his works are in circulation worldwide. He has received multiple ASCAP Special Awards and maintains active involvement as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator across 40 states and Canada. Besig holds a degree from Ithaca College and maintains membership in Phi Mu Alpha, ACDA, MENC, NYSSMA, and ASCAP.
