About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest brings three decades of classroom experience to his compositional voice, having spent his entire teaching career at F.E. Peacock Middle School in Itasca, Illinois. His works for young band are performed internationally, and his contributions to pedagogical methods like Measures of Success® and Warm-ups and Beyond have shaped instrumental music education across the country. In 2017, his composition Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) reached over 5,000 spectators at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.
Since his first publication in 1995, Loest has written for major publishers including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and The FJH Music Company. His music has been featured on network television programs ranging from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to Good Morning America. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to produce high-quality compositions and arrangements for band. Loest holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University and maintains membership in ASCAP and the Illinois Grade School Music Association.
