Joseph M. Martin's musical foundation began at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he completed his bachelor's degree in piano performance. He deepened his technical mastery through graduate study at the University of Texas, Austin, earning a master's degree in the same discipline. His early career included five years teaching piano pedagogy at UT Austin, where he shaped emerging musicians while maintaining an active performance schedule.
As winner of the Nina Plant Wideman Competition, Martin performed with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra and has appeared as a featured soloist with orchestras throughout the United States and Mexico. His work has reached audiences in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to hundreds of church worship spaces across North America. Now based in Austin, Texas, Martin channels his considerable gifts toward sacred music and church music conferences, creating compositions and arrangements that reflect his decades of experience as both performer and educator.
