About the Composer: Gordon Goodwin

Gordon Goodwin began composing at five years old, writing complete pieces rather than fragments. By thirteen, he had already penned his first big band chart, Hang Loose, signaling the arrival of an exceptional talent. His work has earned three Emmy Awards and multiple Grammy nominations across film scoring, orchestration, and jazz performance. He has composed and arranged for major artists including Christina Aguilera, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, and others, while also conducting with symphony orchestras in Atlanta, Dallas, Utah, Seattle, Toronto, and London.

In 2000, Goodwin founded Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, which has become one of Los Angeles's most celebrated big band ensembles. The band's debut album, Swingin' for the Fences, made history as the first commercially released DVD audio title and earned two Grammy nominations. His second album, XXL, garnered three more Grammy nominations, cementing his reputation as both a visionary composer and a bandleader who bridges jazz tradition with contemporary scoring sensibility.
