Patti Drennan

Patti Drennan's 28 years directing choral programs in Norman Public Schools shaped her understanding of what singers need to grow. She earned degrees in music education from Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma, then spent two decades at West Mid-High School building a program that earned her campus Teacher of the Year honors. Her eight years at Norman High School followed, where she directed four choirs that consistently achieved superior ratings at festivals.

With over 425 published choral octavos and two million copies in circulation, Drennan has become one of the most prolific composers in American choral music. The Oklahoma Choral Directors Association recognized her impact with the Director of Distinction Award in 2004, the same year she stepped away from the classroom to focus full-time on composition and clinician work. She continues leading workshops across the United States and Canada, adjudicating festivals, and collaborating with musicians including her daughter Emily, a performer in New York City's musical theater scene.
