Sally K. Albrecht

Sally K. Albrecht brings three decades of publishing leadership and practical classroom experience to her choral writing. As Director of School Choral, Vocal, and Elementary Publications for Alfred Music, she shaped the landscape of accessible choral repertoire while maintaining her own prolific output of over 600 published works. A sought-after clinician and conductor of honor choirs at major venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Kennedy Center, Albrecht has earned consecutive ASCAP Special Music Awards since 1987, recognition of her consistent contribution to choral music education.

Her academic training spans music, drama, and accompaniment across institutions including the University of Miami Frost School of Music (M.A. in Drama, 1977; M.M. in Accompanying, 1979) and Rollins College (B.A., 1976). She has taught at Oakland University, Jersey City State College, and Meredith College, bringing direct knowledge of what works in rehearsal. A recipient of the Distinguished Alumna Award from both her graduate and undergraduate institutions, Albrecht lives in North Carolina with her husband, composer and arranger Jay Althouse.
