About the Composer: Mark Williams
Mark Williams built his reputation as one of school music's most prolific and accessible composers, with over 200 published works spanning band, orchestra, and choral settings. A lifelong educator in Washington State, he earned degrees from Eastern Washington University and spent decades teaching elementary band while also serving as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band. His work as a clinician and guest conductor took him across 34 states, five Canadian provinces, and Australia, and he earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards.
Beyond the page, Williams was an active performer on bassoon and served as conductor and artistic director for the Spokane British Brass Band. His most lasting contribution to music education came through the Accent on Achievement Band Method, a resource that shaped how generations of young musicians learned their instruments.
