About the Composer: Mark Williams

Mark Williams built his reputation as one of the most prolific and respected voices in school band composition, with over 200 works published across band, orchestra, and choral settings. Rooted in elementary music education, he taught in Washington schools for many years while simultaneously establishing himself as a clinician and guest conductor who traveled throughout North America and Australia. His co-authorship of the Accent on Achievement Band Method alongside his performance work on bassoon shaped his deep understanding of what young musicians need to play.

Williams received his Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Education from Eastern Washington University and served as a woodwind performer and arranger for the 560th Air Force Band. His compositions earned recognition including the Western International Band Clinic's Gralia Competition and multiple ASCAP Special Awards. Beyond the page, he conducted the Spokane British Brass Band and maintained an active performance schedule, giving him hands-on insight into the challenges and rewards of ensemble playing at every level.
