About the Composer: Scott Watson
Scott Watson brings three and a half decades of classroom experience to his composition work. After leading the high school band program at Parkland School District in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and later directing the elementary band and strings initiative across the district, he joined the faculty at Cairn University as Associate Professor of Music, where he continues to shape the next generation of music educators.
Watson's catalog of more than 120 published works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensemble draws equally from his background in contemporary classical music and his deep knowledge of the band world. His compositions have been performed internationally and at major American venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. Beyond composing, Watson serves as an exclusive clinician for Alfred Publications and has authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity for Oxford University Press.
