About the Composer: Keith Sharp

Keith Sharp has shaped string education in Brisbane's regional and state schools since 1985, eventually building a comprehensive ensemble program at Brisbane State High School focused on group tuition and collaborative learning. His gift for crafting imaginative, student-centered repertoire has earned his work widespread recognition, with pieces now performed by young orchestras internationally and multiple selections designated "Editor's Choice" in major catalogs. Sharp holds a Bachelor of Music and a Graduate Diploma of Further Education, and his contributions to music education have been acknowledged through the Ryan Recognition award and the Campbell Newman "Can Do, Educator of the Year" honor. He remains active as a guest clinician, composer, and conductor at schools and music camps throughout Australia.

Beyond his individual compositions, Sharp is co-author of the Encore on Strings series and maintains ongoing involvement with AUSTA Queensland, having served as past President. His work represents the perspective of someone who understands the real constraints and possibilities of developing string programs.
