His creative reach extends beyond music into children's literature with "The First Christmas Night." He resides in the Nashville area with his wife, Tammy.

Why we love this

Gloria! carries the hallmark of Christopher's gift for writing music that sounds impressive without requiring extensive rehearsal time. The rhythmic momentum and clean vocal writing give your men's group immediate confidence, and that combination of accessibility with genuine concert-quality material makes programming decisions easy.

What to expect

Gloria! combines sacred character with infectious rhythmic energy. The vocal harmonies sit beautifully for men's voices, creating moments of warmth and resonance that feel both uplifting and grounded.

Who it's for

Men's choirs seeking a concert piece that showcases both musicality and approachability at the Grade 3 level. This octavo works equally well for festival performances or featured program spots where you want impact without excessive rehearsal demands.

How to get the most out of it

  • Establish the rhythmic drive from the first rehearsal. This piece hinges on forward motion, so lock the tempo early and maintain it consistently through the full arrangement.
  • Balance the lower voices carefully during harmonic passages. Let the bottom end anchor the sound without overwhelming the melodic lines above.
  • Shape the phrase endings with slight pulls back in tempo to enhance the expressive moments between sections.

How to use it

Position this as a standalone feature number or as part of a mixed sacred program where its rhythmic vitality can provide contrast to slower works. Its moderate difficulty makes it ideal for mid-season programming when your ensemble has cohesion but before major festival deadlines.

Skills your students will build

  • Sustaining rhythmic precision across four-part TTBB texture
  • Balancing independent vocal lines while maintaining harmonic clarity
  • Interpreting musical phrase shape in sacred contexts
