About the Composer: Timothy Loest
Timothy Loest has shaped instrumental music education through compositions and arrangements performed by young ensembles across the country. His work extends beyond the concert hall: in 2017, Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) reached over 5,000 listeners at Chicago's Millennium Park, and that same year he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education. His music has aired on network television including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America.
With more than thirty years teaching middle school band, Loest brings classroom expertise to every score he writes. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, has collaborated with major publishers including FJH Music Company and Warner Bros. Publications, and founded Fanfare Music Press in 2022 to publish high-quality band repertoire. He is known for his pedagogical method books, among them Measures of Success and Warm-ups and Beyond, and maintains an active commission practice.
