About the Artist: Kirby Shaw
Kirby Shaw's reputation in choral music spans five decades and multiple continents. A Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Washington, he has worked with ensembles across 45 states and internationally in Canada, Australia, Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Germany. His career includes founding the acclaimed COS Vocal Jazz Ensemble at College of the Siskiyous and directing similar programs at Colorado State University and the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
With over 2,500 choral arrangements and compositions in print, Shaw's music has sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide and continues to be performed in schools and concert halls globally. His creative output has earned him multiple ASCAP awards, and his work ranges from educational pieces to commissions for major institutions like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Beyond composition, Shaw brings a distinctive blend of humor and musical depth to his teaching; his vocal jazz mentors have included Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, and Jon Hendricks. He currently directs the Jefferson State Choral Coalition at Southern Oregon University.
