About the Composer: David Garibaldi
David Garibaldi picked up drumsticks at age 10 in the San Francisco Bay area and turned professional by 17. His tenure with Tower of Power, beginning in 1970, established him as a defining voice in funk and R&B drumming. From 1980 through 1985, he dominated the Modern Drummer Reader's Poll in the R&B/Funk category and earned a permanent spot on the publication's honor roll.
Beyond his performing career, Garibaldi shaped the next generation of percussionists through teaching positions at the Dick Grove School of Music, California State University Northridge, and the Percussion Institute of Technology. His prolific writing includes articles for percussion publications worldwide and instructional books that Modern Drummer magazine recognized among the 10 greatest drum books of all time.
