About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo shaped the concert and marching arts landscape during his 31 years as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Chairman at Carmel High School in Indiana. His programs earned state, regional, and national recognition across multiple disciplines; the Wind Symphony performed at the Music for All National Festival three times and claimed the Indiana State Championship in 2013, while the Marching Greyhounds appeared in the top ten at the Bands of America Grand Nationals for 17 consecutive years, capturing national titles in 2005 and 2012. Saucedo received Indiana's Bandmaster of the Year award in 1998-99 and was inducted into both the Music for All Hall of Fame (2015) and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame (2022).
Since retiring in 2013, Saucedo has expanded his work as a freelance arranger and composer while serving as music ensemble coordinator for the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps and as a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America. His compositions span marching bands, concert ensembles, choral groups, and orchestras. He holds membership in the American Bandmasters Association and serves as Chief Judge Team Leader for Bands of America competitions.
