About the Composer: Timothy Loest

Timothy Loest has shaped instrumental music education through three decades of classroom teaching and prolific composition. His band works reach performers worldwide, and his impact extends beyond the concert hall: Cloud Gate (Reflections of a City) premiered at Chicago's Millennium Park in 2017 to an audience of over 5,000, and his compositions have been featured on network television programs including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Good Morning America. In 2017, he received the Illinois Grade School Music Association's Cloyd Myers Memorial Award for Excellence in Music Education.

Loest's publication history spans major publishers including Warner Bros. Publications, C.L. Barnhouse Company, and The FJH Music Company. He co-authored several widely-adopted band method resources, among them Measures of Success: A Comprehensive Musicianship Band Method and the Warm-ups and Beyond series. In 2022, he founded Fanfare Music Press to focus on high-quality band compositions and arrangements. He holds degrees from Illinois State University and Northwestern University, maintains ASCAP membership, and regularly accepts commissions for band.
