About the Composer: Alan A Craig

Alan A Craig

Alan A Craig MBE is a Glasgow-based composer and music director whose work spans opera, choral writing, and orchestral arrangement. Since 2002, he has directed music at Glasgow Clyde College and founded The Springfield Cambridge Festival Chorus and Orchestra, an ensemble that has raised over £500,000 for Children's Hospices Across Scotland through annual benefit concerts. His compositions and arrangements have been performed internationally, broadcast on television, and featured in film productions.

Craig's credentials include collaborations with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of London, and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as work with West End performers and elite community ensembles. His choral works, including A Diminished Mass and the children's opera The Nicht's the Nicht!, demonstrate his skill at writing for voices across all levels. In 2026, he was appointed MBE in recognition of his contributions to music education and charitable arts programming.
