About the Composer: JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall

JaRod Hall composes, conducts, and performs across Texas and beyond. He earned degrees in music education from the University of North Texas and in conducting from Texas State University, where he studied composition with Dr. Michael Ippolito and Dr. Jack Wilds. His eight years directing concert and jazz bands produced consistent sweepstakes recognition at UIL evaluations, and in 2018 his middle school non-varsity ensemble at Griffin Middle School in Frisco became the first in the district to earn the state-level Citation of Excellence.

As a performer, Hall has taken principal chair positions in multiple ensembles including the Texas State Wind Symphony (tuba for two years) and performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and the 2014 Disneyland All-American College Band. His high school achievements include four selections to the Texas All-State Band (2007-2010) and service as drum major for the 2013 Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. His compositions have earned recognition on the Texas Prescribed Music List, J.W. Pepper's "Editor's Choice" selections, and the Bandworld Top 100; his brass work "Silver Fanfare" won the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and "Through the Storm" received the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize.
