About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan brings 36 years of band directing experience from Albemarle County, Virginia, combined with deep roots in music education and composition. He studied music education at Bridgewater College and earned a master's degree from James Madison University, where he later taught arranging as adjunct faculty and now serves as a University Supervisor. His work has reached national stages including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and Virginia's gubernatorial inauguration.

Fagan's contributions to music education have been recognized with the Outstanding Educator Award from both the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts and the Piedmont Council of the Arts, plus selection as Central Virginia Outstanding Middle School Teacher. Active as a clinician, adjudicator, and composer, he holds memberships in ASCAP, the National Band Association, and Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Fraternity. He currently serves as Assistant Director and percussionist with the Charlottesville Band.
