About the Composer: William Owens
William Owens has built a distinguished career as both educator and composer, with deep roots in the young band field. A 1985 graduate of VanderCook College of Music, he spent three decades as a band director in Texas before retiring in 2014, bringing classroom experience directly into his compositional voice. His catalog exceeds 300 works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles, many of which have become standard repertoire in school programs nationwide.
Owens' approach to composition reflects his practical understanding of what student musicians need to succeed. His works appear on contest lists across North America and have been featured in music education texts. Recognition from the American Bandmasters Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and ASCAP reflects the impact of his contributions to the field. He holds memberships in TMEA, ATSSB, and Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity and maintains his home in Fort Worth, Texas.
