About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo spent 31 years building one of Indiana's most decorated band programs at Carmel High School, where he directed ensembles that won state championships, performed at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival, and earned recognition at the highest levels of competition. His leadership extended beyond the rehearsal room: the Carmel Marching Greyhounds placed in the top ten at the Bands of America Grand National Championship for 17 consecutive years, capturing national titles in 2005 and 2012, and Saucedo himself earned the distinctions of Indiana Bandmaster of the Year and Outstanding Music Educator.
Since retiring in 2013, Saucedo has remained deeply connected to music education as a composer, arranger, and consultant. His portfolio spans concert bands, orchestras, choral groups, and marching ensembles; he served as Brass Arranger and Composer for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to five DCI world championships, and now coordinates music ensembles for the Blue Devils. He holds elected membership in the American Bandmasters Association and was inducted into both the Music for All Hall of Fame and the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame.
