About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo spent 31 years as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Chairman at Carmel High School in Indiana, building one of the nation's most consistently successful band programs. Under his leadership, Carmel's ensembles claimed state and national titles across concert, jazz, and marching categories, with the Wind Symphony I performing at the Music for All National Festival three times and the Marching Greyhounds placing in the BOA Grand National Championship's top ten for 17 consecutive years, including national wins in 2005 and 2012.
Saucedo's contributions to music education earned him Indiana's Bandmaster of the Year honor in 1998-99, Outstanding Music Educator in 2010, and induction into both the Music for All Hall of Fame (2015) and DCI Hall of Fame (2022). Beyond his tenure at Carmel, he has arranged and composed for marching bands, concert bands, choral ensembles, and orchestras. His work with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps and prior service with the Cavaliers (five DCI world championship contributions) demonstrate his reach across the activity. Saucedo serves as Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America, and holds membership in the American Bandmasters Association.
