About the Composer: Richard L. Saucedo
Richard L. Saucedo shaped Indiana's band program landscape during his 31 years as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Chairman at Carmel High School. His ensembles earned consistent recognition at state, regional, and national levels, with the Wind Symphony I appearing three times at the Music for All National Concert Band Festival and capturing the Indiana State Champion title in 2013. The Carmel Marching Greyhounds maintained a presence in the Bands of America Grand National Championship's top ten for 17 consecutive years, winning national championships in 2005 and 2012.
Beyond the high school podium, Saucedo has built a distinguished career as an arranger and composer across multiple ensemble types. He served as Brass Arranger and Composer for the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, contributing to five DCI world championships, and currently coordinates music ensembles for the Blue Devils. Recognition of his contributions includes Indiana's Bandmaster of the Year award, induction into the Music for All Hall of Fame and Drum Corps International Hall of Fame, and membership in the American Bandmasters Association. Since his 2013 retirement, he continues as a Senior Educational Consultant for Music for All and Bands of America while maintaining an active freelance composing practice.
