About the Composer: Keith Terrett
Keith Terrett's musical foundation began in the British Army, where he entered the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall and subsequently served as principal cornet and trumpet with the Band of the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars. His early composition training came through formal study in orchestration, harmony, and composition at Kneller Hall, where he won the student march competition in 1988.
Terrett's career has spanned multiple continents and musical contexts. He served as a music lecturer and principal director at the University of Papua New Guinea and the Band of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary, where he collected and arranged indigenous folk music. His subsequent work in Norway as a town band director led to his first published composition, "The Gypsy Violinist in New Orleans." Throughout his career, Terrett has developed flexible orchestrations tailored to the specific ensembles he conducted, and his published works now appear across Europe, North America, and beyond.
