About the Composer: Dennis Alexander

Dennis Alexander has established himself as a leading voice in educational piano composition, with more than 400 published works created since joining Alfred Music Publishing in 1986. His career spans decades of teaching at the University of Montana (where he chaired the piano department for 24 years), Cal State Fullerton, and Cal State Northridge, alongside an active performance schedule that has taken him across North America and Asia. Alexander earned his degree from the University of Kansas and made his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 1987. He has served as a collaborative artist for internationally recognized soloists and chamber groups, judged national competitions, and conducted master classes at the MTNA national convention.

Based in Albuquerque, Alexander continues composing and touring for Alfred Music Publishing while maintaining his reputation as a popular clinician at state and national music education conventions. His work has been commissioned by numerous organizations, and his distinctive approach to intermediate and advanced repertoire reflects both his deep understanding of piano pedagogy and his commitment to inspiring expressive, musicianly playing.
