About the Composer: Brian Balmages
Brian Balmages has established himself as a versatile composer and conductor whose works span orchestral, band, and chamber music repertoires. His compositions have been premiered and performed worldwide by ensembles from professional symphony orchestras to elementary school bands in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Sydney Opera House. He is an elected member of the American Bandmasters Association and received the A. Austin Harding Award from the American School Band Directors Association, along with winning the 2020 NBA William D. Revelli Composition Contest for Love and Light.
As a conductor, Balmages maintains active guest conducting relationships with all-state ensembles, university orchestras, and professional groups internationally, with notable appearances at the Midwest Clinic, Western International Band Clinic, and the College Band Directors Conference. His music has been performed at significant national events, including the 2013 Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service. He currently serves as Director of MakeMusic Publications and Digital Education for Alfred and MakeMusic.
