Deborah Baker Monday

Deborah Baker Monday spent 25 years directing the Logan City orchestra program, an award-winning ensemble that became a model for string education in her region. She holds a B.M.E. from Florida State University with a focus on string pedagogy, an M.M. in composition from the University of Alabama, and completed doctoral coursework at Louisiana State University under the mentorship of James Yestadt. Her studies in composition encompassed work with Harold Schiffman, John Boda, Frederic Goossen, Paul Hedwall, and Dinos Constantinides.

Monday has published over 130 compositions and arrangements with seven publishing companies, with a particular focus on educational string literature. She won the UtahASTA Composition Competition twice (2006 and 2011) and received recognition as Outstanding Elementary Educator and Superior Accomplishment awards from both UtahASTA and UtahMEA. Since retiring from classroom teaching, she remains active as a clinician, conductor, and adjudicator, presenting at state conferences across the country and at prestigious venues including The Midwest Clinic and the Ohio State String Teachers Workshop.
