About the Composer: Scott Watson
Scott Watson brings three decades of classroom experience to his work as a composer and educator. After spending 35 years teaching instrumental music and directing bands in the Parkland School District (Allentown, PA), he moved into higher education as Associate Professor of Music at Cairn University. His compositional voice draws equally from contemporary concert art music and the practical realities of the band room, a blend reflected across his more than 120 published works for concert band, string orchestra, and chamber ensembles.
Watson's music has reached audiences at major venues including the Academy of Music in Philadelphia, the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, and the White House. He serves as exclusive composer and clinician for Alfred Publications, contributes to their Sound Innovations series, and authored the influential text Using Technology to Unlock Musical Creativity (Oxford University Press, 2011). His work as guest conductor and workshop presenter has made him a frequent presence at honor bands and festivals across the country.
