About the Arranger: Nick Baratta

Nick Baratta

Nick Baratta earned his BM in Music Education and Applied Percussion from The New England Conservatory in 1980, studying under BSO percussionist Frank Epstein and Vic Firth. For two decades he directed percussion and marching arts at West Genesee Central Schools in New York, building the program into a 30-time state champion and three-time Festival of States national champion. He has served as creative director and arranger for West Genesee's marching band since 1978.

Baratta's arrangements and compositions have been performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, MENC national conferences, Bands of America, and the Percussive Arts Society National Convention. His work for percussion ensemble has been commissioned and performed by Eastman School of Music, Kent State University, and the University of Utah. He maintains an active private percussion studio and consults with high schools on competitive marching band programs. His music has been published by Alfred/Belwin since 1987.
