John Kinyon

John Kinyon earned degrees from Ithaca College and the Eastman School of Music, along with an honorary doctorate from Limestone College. His career spans instrumental music direction, leadership roles in school districts, educational work with Warner Brothers Music in New York, and faculty positions in music education at the University of Miami.

Kinyon has composed more than 250 educational works for Alfred Music, spanning grades 1 through 3 across multiple styles. His catalog includes original marches, ballads, and overtures that serve as core repertoire in school band programs nationwide. Since 1982, he has maintained a semi-retired presence in Tuckasegee while continuing to write music for young ensembles.
