Martin studied piano performance at Furman University and earned his master's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he later taught in the Piano Pedagogy Department for five years. A accomplished concert pianist, he has performed solo recitals and appeared as a featured artist with orchestras across the United States and Mexico, including a performance with the Guadalajara Symphony Orchestra following his win in the Nina Plant Wideman Competition.

Martin's career has evolved from the concert hall to the church, and his compositions now appear in venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to worship services across North America. He divides his time between concert performances and creating music for church musicians and conferences. Based in Austin, Texas, he continues to compose and arrange works that reflect the breadth of his musical training and his deep commitment to sacred music.
