About the Composer: Vince Gassi
Vince Gassi has shaped the landscape of accessible band and string repertoire since joining Alfred Music in 2006. A prolific composer with more than 100 published works, he balances technical craft with genuine musicality, creating pieces that challenge young musicians without overwhelming them. His output spans concert and contest settings across North America, Europe, and Japan, with regular performances at prestigious venues like the Midwest Clinic.
Gassi brings classroom experience to every composition. After earning his Bachelor of Music from the University of Western Ontario, he studied composing and arranging at the Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles before completing a Ph.D. at York University in Toronto. He spent twenty-five years teaching instrumental music at the elementary and secondary levels and now works extensively as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician. His seminars on creative engagement and digital workflows reflect his commitment to helping music educators build thriving programs.
