About the Composer: JaRod Hall
JaRod Hall, born in 1991, is a Texas-based composer and educator who holds degrees in music education from the University of North Texas and a master's degree from Texas State University. His composition teachers included Dr. Michael Ippolito and Dr. Jack Wilds, while his conducting mentors were Dr. Nicholas Williams and Dr. Caroline Beatty. As a tubist and trombonist, he has performed with the North Texas Wind Symphony, the 3 O'Clock Lab Band, and multiple ensembles at Texas State University, where he served as principal tuba for two years.
Hall's work as a band director has earned his students consistent sweepstakes recognition at Texas UIL evaluations. His 2018 non-varsity band at Griffin Middle School in Frisco made state history by becoming the first middle school ensemble in Frisco ISD to receive the Citation of Excellence, awarded to the top two non-varsity bands statewide in Class A. His original compositions appear on the Texas Prescribed Music List, the J.W. Pepper "Editor's Choice" list, and the Bandworld Top 100. His fanfare "Silver Fanfare" was selected as a winner of the 2020 Dallas Winds Call for Fanfares, and "Through the Storm" received the 2021 Barbara Buehlman Prize for middle school band.
