About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett has shaped music education and composition at the University of Oklahoma since 2001, where he teaches theory and composition with a focus on twentieth-century techniques at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Beyond the classroom, he serves as musical arranger for the Pride of Oklahoma marching band and has established himself as a prolific composer and arranger with over two hundred published works spanning symphonic band, chamber ensembles, and marching band contexts.

Barrett's compositions have reached audiences through performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony, countless All-State and All-Region honor bands, and broadcasts on National Public Radio and USA cable television. His work has been programmed at the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention, the National Trumpet Competition, and the International Trumpet Guild convention. A multiple recipient of the ASCAPlus award, Barrett has earned recognition from peers and institutions throughout his career in composition.
