Richard Meyer brings three decades of string teaching experience to his composition practice, having built orchestral programs from the ground up in Southern California public schools. His work with the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra took him across multiple continents as a conductor, and his "Giving Bach" initiative has become a nationally-recognized model for using interactive concerts to reach underserved student populations. Meyer's dual career as educator and composer has yielded nearly 200 published works, and he served 16 years as string editor for Alfred Publishing Company while co-authoring foundational method materials including the String Explorer Series.
