About the Arranger: Elena Roussanova Lucas

Elena Roussanova Lucas grew up in Moscow, where she began piano studies at age three and entered the prestigious Central Music School's child prodigy program. She went on to study at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire of Music, earning the Red Diploma (Summa Cum Laude) in Composition, Music History, Music Theory, and Instrumentation under composers Tihon Khrennikov and Tatiana Choodova. She also completed training in piano pedagogy and accompaniment at the Ippolitov-Ivanov Music College.

As a member of the United Russian Composers Union, Lucas has had her work performed by major Russian ensembles including The Tchaikovsky State Orchestra of Moscow and The Russian National Orchestra Brass Quintet, as well as by international artists and ensembles. She won First Prize in a Russia-wide piano competition sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Culture and has presented masterclasses in composition at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. Lucas maintains an active career as both composer and pianist, and currently teaches at Boston University.
