Barry E. Kopetz

Barry E. Kopetz serves as Director of Bands at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, where he leads the Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds ensembles while teaching conducting, rehearsal techniques, and arranging. His educational background includes degrees from Ohio State University and a doctorate with distinction from Indiana University's School of Music, with conducting studies under Frederick Fennell in Tokyo.

Kopetz has taught at major universities including the University of Utah, University of Minnesota, and Bowling Green State University, alongside public school positions in Ohio and South Carolina. As a composer and arranger, he has more than 50 published works in print. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor and adjudicator across the United States and Australia, contributes analytical articles to Instrumentalist magazine, and has worked on orchestrations for television and film projects. He was elected to the American Bandmasters Association in 1998.
