About the Composer: Roland Barrett

Roland Barrett has shaped multiple generations of student musicians through his work at the University of Oklahoma, where he joined the faculty in 2001 to teach music theory and composition. His fifteen years as Assistant Director of Bands gave him deep insight into the needs of young ensembles, an understanding that shows clearly in his prolific output of over two hundred published works for symphonic band, chamber groups, and marching ensembles.

Beyond the classroom, Barrett remains actively involved in the Pride of Oklahoma marching band as its musical arranger, and his compositions have earned performances by the Dallas Wind Symphony, numerous All-State and All-Region Honor Bands, and national recognition including multiple ASCAP Plus awards. His work has been heard on NPR and featured at major conventions including the Midwest Band & Orchestra Convention and the International Trumpet Guild.
