About the Composer: Kris Berg

Kris Berg holds the position of Director of Jazz Studies at Collin County Community College in Texas, where he earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. His big band charts and original compositions have circulated globally through recordings and performances; he is a prolific arranger and composer for Belwin Jazz (Alfred Publishing) and has authored instructional materials including Bass Lines in Minutes.

Berg founded and directs both the Collin Jazz Fest and the Texas All-Star Jazz Camp, and his work with the Collin jazz ensembles has earned multiple invitations to the Montreux Jazz Festival. He maintains an active clinician and artist relationship with Yamaha Corporation of America and has shared the bandstand with artists including Kurt Elling, Randy Brecker, Peter Erskine, Bob Mintzer, Bobby Shew, Jimmy Heath, and Clark Terry.
