Joseph M. Martin trained extensively as a pianist, completing his bachelor's degree in piano performance at Furman University and his master's degree at the University of Texas, Austin. He taught piano pedagogy at UT Austin for five years while establishing himself as a solo recitalist and orchestra soloist, performing across the United States and Mexico and winning the prestigious Nina Plant Wideman Competition.

Martin's career has evolved from concert halls like Carnegie Hall to a primary focus on church music and worship settings. His compositions and arrangements span an impressive range, appearing in everything from major venues to hundreds of congregations across the United States and Canada. He continues to balance performance with composition, living in Austin with his family.
