About the Composer: Gary Fagan

Gary Fagan brought thirty-six years of experience to the Albemarle County band program before retiring from full-time teaching. His music has traveled far beyond his native Maryland, earning performances at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the White House, and Virginia's gubernatorial inauguration. He holds degrees from Bridgewater College (Music Education) and James Madison University (Master's), and continues his influence as a University Supervisor at JMU while teaching arranging as adjunct faculty.

Fagan's contributions to music education have earned recognition from the University of Virginia's Phi Delta Kappa chapter, the Virginia Governor's School for the Visual and Performing Arts, and the Piedmont Council of the Arts. A percussionist with the Charlottesville Band and its Assistant Director, he remains active as a clinician, adjudicator, and composer. He holds memberships in ASCAP, Phi Beta Mu, the National Band Association, and participates in MENC and the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association.
