About the Composer: Robert Sheldon
Robert Sheldon's compositions for wind band have earned him a place among the most frequently programmed composers in the field today. His work as lead author of Sound Innovations for Concert Band and his numerous accolades from the American School Band Director's Association, Phi Beta Mu, and ASCAP reflect a compositional voice grounded in musical substance and pedagogical insight.
Sheldon's influence extends across the globe. He maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor for All-State and Regional Honor Bands, serves as a clinician at universities and state music education conferences, and has led performances of his works in major concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Orchestra Hall, Symphony Hall, the Sydney Opera House, and the Kennedy Center. His international conducting experience spans the United States, Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Australia, and China. In 2020, VanderCook College of Music conferred upon him an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to music education and the wind band repertoire.
